A Vanda Coatings team recently completed a lift door re-coating project at office premises in Liverpool. In this case study, we look at how we tackled the work in a live working environment.

The Lift Door Project Details

lift door before re-coating

The client approached us because they had a project where existing lift doors were aged, and they required modernising by re-coating them in situ.

The lift doors were situated in busy areas of an office block and there was a request to paint the lift doors. They also requested to have the doors painted in a variety of colours.

Our Solution

Method of Spraying- Electrostatic

The office was occupied, so after discussions with the client, we decided the best method of paint application was the electrostatic painting method of spraying.

Vanda Coatings has specialised in Electrostatic paint spraying for over twenty years. This specialised technique takes years to perfect. It is ideal for re-coating metal work where a quality finish and minimal overspray are required, making it the perfect choice for spray application of lift doors.

Paint Choice

As with most lift doors, they are primarily located in high-traffic locations and are prone to wear and tear. Therefore, the paint choice must be durable but also dry back to an eye-pleasing finish. The choice of paint system was a tough two-pack acrylic that is durable and resistant.

Benefits of Electrostatic Spray Painting Lift Doors

  • Superior Finish: Electrostatic application ensures a smooth, even coat with minimal drips or runs, creating a visually appealing and professional look for your lift doors.
  • Enhanced Durability: The charged paint particles strongly adhere to the metal surface, resulting in a more durable and long-lasting finish compared to traditional methods.
  • Reduced Waste: The electrostatic attraction minimises paint overspray, significantly reducing paint waste and material costs.
  • Faster Turnaround: Electrostatic painting dries quickly, allowing for faster completion of the project and minimising downtime for your lifts.
  • Environmental Benefits: Less paint waste ensures a more environmentally friendly process than conventional spray painting techniques.
