Refurbishing office blocks is a good investment for any business looking to sell property or rent it out. Smart looking offices have a much greater chance of attracting buyers or tenants and architectural features that are maintained well will protect the building for years to come. In the case of Status Park, near Heathrow Airport in London the business owners needed the expertise of Vanda Coatings for the restoration of 2 separate office blocks.
Status Park is about 20 years old and over time the original coating on various surfaces had faded. This was the first time that the original powder coating had been re-sprayed and it is one of our many areas of expertise. Our teams not only re-coated the curtain walling, they also painted the fascias, guttering and downpipes as well as the fire exit doors of the whole exterior over 3 floors of these 2 large buildings. Furthermore, the plant rooms including the doors on both structures were refurbished by Vanda Coatings. Plant rooms house mechanisms associated with air conditioning and electrical equipment and are often located in the roof space of buildings. The plant rooms at Status Park were cladded and our Vanda teams were asked to re-spray this cladding on the exterior of the top floor of both buildings.
The overhaul was able to take place during the day and not just out of hours as is often the case in occupied buildings. All the renovations were carried out simultaneously over approximately 3 months which meant other trades were on site. Our experienced operatives were happy to work alongside such trades as electricians, carpenters, plumbers, lift engineers and painters and decorators.
To a great extent the main contractor stipulated the order of the work that was carried out and at Status Park they were responsible for scaffolding out the external buildings. Because scaffolding was used it made sense to complete all of the work on one elevation at a time. Our staff at Vanda Coatings often co-ordinate the use of scaffolding, but in this case it was organised by the main contractor. It goes without saying that all our operatives are PASMA and IPAF trained with the supporting certification.
Our Vanda Coatings teams are accomplished in masking off areas that need to be protected from possible overspray, preparation and recoating, so this extensive London based project was completed easily. Because of his knowledge and expertise our team leader was even able to offer advice regarding the choice of top coat and various items were transformed from a jaded crimson to a sleek new grey. The main contractor was obviously happy with the completed work as our teams received 7 new instructions since the original request as the refurbishment went on. This work included the internal entrances and atriums on both buildings. Vanda Coatings were even asked to re-spray new parking bollards that had been damaged when they had been installed.
